VI Monitor App Reviews
poor
cannot even load the server, very user unfriendly
Very Nice
Very nice app. Had some trouble with playback, but figured it out. Would like to see the same controls from the Windows version (clipping ease, etc)
I’ve been waiting for a while for a Macintosh version. I’m very happy that it has arrived. I was getting tired of using VMware Fusion to run Windows, just for the sole purpose of running the windows version of this software for our security personnel. Thank you VideoInsight!
VI Monitor… MONITOR…
A lot of people complain that this MAC version is less than the windows version… and that’s not apples to apples true. The skinny is that this app does exactly what it is supposed to do… a monitor or viewer of the cameras/camera servers. It is NOT nor does it claim to be “VI MonitorPlus” for windows. It is not for administrative functions of your servers. I manage 5 servers at 5 different sites, and this tool is GREAT for checking in on my cameras and functionality of servers. In a production world, where you’re not making configuration changes daily, this is perfect for your MAC. Yes, if you need to do advanced functions, you need to get into the server or a windows machine with the client to make changes… but for what this is, this app is GREAT. I just wish they would bring back the AppleTV version…
Meh…
I was thinking…. Maybe VI monitors the reviews it receives on the Mac platform. Issues with playback freezing on certain points during playback are really annoying. The functionality of this port if pale in comparison to the Windows counterpart. I would love to have the same interface on both platforms. Please?
Missing Features
This is a terrible app as it doesn't have feature parity with its Windows counterpart, and it saves video in real time instread of prepping it on the server and then downloading a compressed video file. We like VideoInsight overall, but not this app. We moved from Exacqvision to the VI platform, and their Mac client is MUCH better. Lazy programmers and a terrible app.
Update
The Mac version is a significantly lesser product than the PC counterpart. I frequently need to go to other employees computers to grab video feeds and work on the camera system. I highly recommend doing your homework before purchasing this product for your Mac. There are several systems that are more intuitive than this product. Note to developer, please make sure you test your products and software solutions with the specific OS users prior to releasing your product. This feels like your group was checking a box on multi-system suitability and not creating a viable product.
2.4.2 Crashes on Launch
Version 2.4.2 crashes on Catalina. Have replicated on multiple machines. Also appears to crash on High Sierra.
No Sound
We have several cameras with sound capabilities but no sound available on Apple products. Any suggestions of fixes?
No direct cam support
Does not support direct connection to IP cams. making it worthless - I would pay decent $ for it if it did.
Terrible!!
Crashes allot of the time. Panasonic do not do software well !
Only server based cams?
How do you add five IP webcams on the network that do not use server? App Support displays PDF file... go and get it approach. Where is UX to guide you through? Is this one of the 'diet' applications?
missing functions
half of the functions are missing from the application, only allows me to create clips and thats it.
works, sort of
the description indicates that it can do camera tours, however I cannot figure out how to do this. there is no documentation of this functionality in the user guide and when I tried to contact tech support, my e-mail was bounced as undeliverable. seems pretty user unfriendly, would definitely benefit from some updated documentation of features.
does not work with 10.13.4 Soerria
does not work can find the camera but thats it…will not connect to it.
Works with MacOS Sierra now
July 3rd, 2017 update seems to work fine with MacOS Sierra. Interface seems a bit laggy.
Crashes every single time
After updating to macOS Sierra this app doesn’t work at all anymore, everytime I try to look into the live feed for any camera.

Doesnt work with MacOS Sierra
